Update on this story:
I forgot where I saw the link for this and, typically, if I don’t save something right away I will forget it. I’ve got the memory of a gnat. If I find it, I’ll post it. Anyway, the soldier spoken of below has been charged with a criminal act for using the Koran as target practice. The behavior of everyone involved, from his commanding officers all the way up the President of the United States, is appalling. They are making asses of themselves to cozy up to the Muslims over one inappropriate act. It was ONE guy being rude. Why does the entire American armed forces and all levels of our government have to apologize and kiss Muslim ass over this shit? It’s ridiculous!!!! And why does this soldier’s life have to be ruined over this? Muslims oppress, torture, maim and kill all over the world and one soldier is castigated for shooting at a Koran. And Muslims don’t respect other people’s religions and sacred books. I’m so sick of this. I take back everything I said below. Shoot the Koran. Blow that muther to smithereens and see if I care. The Koran is nothing but a manual for murder and mayhem anyway. Why should we respect it? Do we respect Hitler’s ‘Mein Kampf’? No. Screw the Koran. I was only trying to take into account the feelings of innocent Iraqi Muslims, but now I don’t give a rat’s ass how anyone feels.
Crude. AWESOME.
A U.S. soldier serving in Iraq used a Koran for his target practice. As much as I think the Koran is one of the worst religious treatises to befall and befuddle man, I would never condone such a crude and insensitive act as using one for target practice in a Muslim country where our soldiers are supposed to be serving the Iraqi people and helping rebuild their country. (I would certainly approve of doing it in Tennessee, though)
The Iraqi people have suffered enough without this gross abuse.
That said, Muslims all around the world will no doubt milk the shit out of this incident. Because frankly, they love an excuse to feel victimized and to complain about the West, especially America.
Sheikh Hamadi al-Qirtani, in a speech on behalf of all tribal sheiks of Radhwaniya, called the incident “aggression against the entire Islamic world.”
[...]
“…and holds the occupation and the current government fully responsible for this violation and reminds everyone that God preserves his book and he [God] is a great avenger.”
Just like I said.
