It Bears Repeating

I posted this earlier as part of the excerpts from the interview with Rushdie from 2006. It is the single most important excerpt from the entire interview and it bears being repeated just by itself. These words are spoken by a man who knows all too well the threat of radical Islamic terrorism (Islamic Jihad); who himself has been physically, mentally and emotionally victimized by the so-called “religion of peace” for nearly two decades; who has first-hand experience of the culture of Islamic violence and oppression; who values liberty and equality and freedom of expression.

What I fear most is that, when we look back in 25 years’ time at this moment, what we will have seen is the surrender of the West, without a shot being fired. They’ll say that in the name of tolerance and acceptance, we tied our own hands and slit our own throats.

                               — Salman Rushdie, author of ‘The Satanic Verses’
